My husband and i have been tossing around the name Frank for our next baby (due in July), i am not sure how i feel about it, do you think it is too old fashioned? We are between Jack Ryan and Frank but i cannot come up with a middle name that flows with Frank. Our last name is two syllables and starts with a B

Frank would not be short for Francis in this case, it would just be Frank (after my husband's uncle). And Jack Ryan would be first and middle name, i cannot go with Ryan as first name because one of my good friends just had a baby named Ryan.

May I politely suggest going with the Jack Ryan over Frank. Jack is a timeless name though sounds adorable for a little boy.It will also serve him well in adulthood as it has a respectable tone.

Frank is a older type name... somehow seems dated. Plus I seem to notice people call some Franks , Frankie.Though you explain it will not be short for Francis , people will always assume that and may tease the boy.

Jack and Ryan are cute names, Frank sounds like a 70 year old's name.

I don't think that Frank is a cute name. The name Frank reminds me of a middle aged man who's short and starting to go bald. I guess your baby will be short and possibly bald, but I just don't think Frank is a cute name.

Personally, Jack sounds like another middle aged man name, but it's a little better than Frank.

Have you considered using Frank or Jack as a middle name?

Most people do not use the short version of their name with their middle name. So it would be Francis---Middle name---- Last name. Like say Francis Albert Sinatra or just Frank Sinatra. I thought Ryan was a last name; if none of your people are Ryans then go with Jack or Frank. The man will make the name rather than the other way around. (Unless you come up with something really awful)

Don't really like the name Frank for this generation; for some reason I do not think of good looking men when I hear that name (no offense to you Franks out there). What about John Ryan B....?

Frank sounds like an awesome name! He will probably be the only one, and that's cool. If you really down deep inside are just trying to talk yourself into it, you might try it as a middle name, or change it to Franklin. Frank Henry, Frank Richard, Frank McKay, just trying to brainstorm some fun middle name ideas. Or you could use Frank as a first name and use your husband's name as the middle name. good luck!

Please go with Jack Ryan. Frank/Francis is not a good name for a baby. I have a male cousin named Francis, named for our grandfather Frank. He hates his name. And Frank just never suited him either. So he's stuck with Francis. Thank God he's a really good looking, sporty big tough guy or he never would have been able to pull off Francis. It's a nerdy name.

No, I would not go with Frank. Frank is somewhat harsh and old-fashioned sounding. It is one of those outdated names that just doesn't work nowadays.

I really like Jack Ryan. That is an adorable name. =]

Congrats!
