Soak after use, but a tip, to clean pots which have been used for scrambled eggs or the like put about 1" of water and a squirt of washing up liquid bring to the boil for a short time and then it will be easy to clean.

I soak. Water is the universal solvent. If soaking won't loosen it, you might as well throw it away.
