I think it is a collaborative effort. When you think about it, teachers spend as much time, if not more in some cases, with children as the parent. Parents are responsible for influencing and guiding children in right from wrong, morals, etc. Teachers are responsible for that much plus teaching them how to read, write, etc. Character education is a major part of a teacher's job. The teacher is a constant role model the students see everyday. Friends also play a big role, they may not be the most important, but they definitely play a huge one! Friends know things that parents and teachers don't. If a child is being pressured to participate in sexual activity or drugs, the friends usually know first and have a more influential push with their peers. A teacher or a parent can tell a child that drugs are bad, but if a friend says it will make them cool--guess who the child will listen too! So I think we could say that parents SHOULD play the most important role, but the truth remains that that is not always the case.

At different phases in one's life, it will shift. It can even shift from one to another and maybe back again, then to another all in the same year. This is why it is important to have involved, loving parents, friends who will help you instead of hurt you, and to have great teachers who are great in every way.

parents, and friends. cuz the parents raise the kid obviously, so whatever the parents do, the child will learn and see,
and the friends, well peer pressure, and just wanting to fit in and be like their friends.
