The propose treating addiction as a sickness rather than a crime, getting addicts jobs and housing, havng safe rooms where addicts can bring drugs to prevent overdoses, and recognizing that cigarettes and alcohol are even more deadly than illegal drugs. They say their study shows that most illegal drug users do so without harming themselves or others, so the criminal penalties should be reserved for those with the worst crimes or the suppliers.

Sounds a little silly, but it's worth a try. Using the methods they use now obviously isn't working. So why not try something new?
