Try gathering a couple of sources to help you answer this question. Look for a couple that are on either side of the global warming debate to provide the best possible answer.

Some good sources could include:
http://www.ecobridge.org/content/g_cse.htm
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Global_warming (if your teacher doesn't mind you using Wikipedia as a source. Some don't allow it.)
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sci/tech/996115.stm
http://www.uic.com.au/nip24.htm

And go from there. Try a google or yahoo search for "Global Warming CO2 Emissions" or something, you'll get more results than you'll know what to do with.

CO2 is a greenhouse gas, which is created naturally and also by man made activities. When CO2 builds up at certain layers of the atmosphere, it allows heat and light energy in and traps its under itself to warm the earth. When the Globe warms up...Fresh water stored in the form of glaciers at both the south and north pole areas begin to melt. When fresh water floods the oceans salt water, it begins to change the concentration of salt in the oceans. The mechanism of salt water mixing fresh water in the oceans create a churning of the oceans current which establishes our weather patterns (like El Ninos). This has happened in the past...typically in the past, a brief global warming period is followed by a cooling period as the Oceans Current Change. Like a mini Ice Age, then the Ice Caps will rebuild itself and the climate will go back to its natural temperate climate. The questions is how much CO2 is man made and contributing to this process.

CO2 emissions create a blanket of sorts in the upper atmosphere by layering itself almost like an extra atmospherical level, it slows the earth's heat from escaping into space and acts like insulation.

U.S.A. has the worst mpg(miles per gallon) on cars than any other nation. in china they have cars with 105 mpg, australia 76, california recently tried to get cars with a 60-70 mpg, but the fuel companies wouldn't let let them, the fuel companies are so concerned about money that they don't care if it kills our planet
