Im a huge NCAA basketball fan and die hard Louisville Cardinal fan. I realize that seeding plays a small role in the tournament but is it really that important? When we finally get to this point in the season its anybodys game. Usually the top seeds dont win it.....but...........sometimes they do. Tell me your team and what you think they will do and give me your take.

Seeding matters for a couple of reasons. First, a high seed ensures an easier first round. Upsets do happen, but 1-4 seeds win their first rounds far more frequently then the other seeds do. And I'd rather have 5 tough games over 6 tough ones. Second, high seeds tend to be close to home. You don't travel as far the first weekend and fans are more likely to come and watch.

Seed matters to a certain extent. For example, a number 16 seed has never upset a number 1 seed, so if you're in the first round and you're the number 16 seed, then you're probably not going to win. Once the tournament gets down to the Sweet 16, seedings matter very little.

My team is Tennessee. I think they have a lot of momentum carrying them into the offseason. We've had some tough close losses this year, but we've played well enough that I think we can make an impact on the tournament field this year. I honestly think we can make it to the Elite Eight, after being up on Florida by 27 points during the game last week.

I think this years tournament will have more surprises and upsets than any in recent years, but mainly because the favorite teams are all starting to fade and be plagued with injuries.

First off, props to my fellow Tennessee fan who answered a few spots up! GO VOLS,

As to the question. I think it matters, sure. But I think that WHO is seeded in your bracket matters a lot more in a sense, and a lot of that can boil down to luck. Here's what I mean.

Matchups are key in the tournament. Seeding isn't always the be all, end all factor. And sometimes with those lower seeds you're starting to see cream of the crop "mid major" teams playing higher seeded but mediocre "major conference" teams. I think you used to get a lot of that with the 5-12 and 6-11 match ups.

Bottom line is, the most important factor is WHO is in your bracket. What's the road look like to the final four? The numbers business factors into that, but it's only part of it.

It matters tons. Who is in your region, who is you number 2 or number 3 on your side. If Florida doesn't pick it up, they can be a number two instead of a one. Think somebody like Ohio State or Wisconsin want to see Florida as oppose to a lesser two seed like Memphis. Seeding can mean the world. Don't worry, Louisville will get no less than a 6 seed.

Of course! Although there are always upsets would you really want say Wisconsin and Ohio State playing in the first round? In addition it gives you somthing to play for in the regular season. I'm sure the 16 seeds would rather not have to play a #1 seed for their first game.

seeding is absolutely huge. the reason that a big school usually wins is because they only have to play top teams in the elite 8 and final 4. if they all had to play the top teams and the bad teams played the bad teams everything would be all kinds of crazies.

It has under no circumstances befell in the adult males's experience. there have been a handful of 15 seeds that beat a 2 seed in the 1st around, yet a sixteen seed has under no circumstances gained a time-honored-around game against a a million seed. I have not any clue on the subject of the girls persons's experience (yawn...)

Seeding does play a role, if you are a west coast team you don't want to travel to the east and vice versa, USC Trojans will be in the sweet 16.

Seeding absolutely matters, unless you are seeded 7,8,9,10, where the teams are pretty much evenly matched. For the other seeds, the better seed you get, the easier your first round match is.
