been "in love" with someone is really just a strong infatuation,a powerful feeling of attraction that makes us feel weak whenever the person we are "in love" with is around...but loving someone is dedication, respect, the willingness to look past the other person's shortcomings and just appreciate the person, loving someone is commitment and patience. the major the difference between been "in love" and loving someone lies there,to be "in love" comes naturally from within and can only last so long before loosing intensity, whereas loving someone is something we do and does not always come naturally,it requires maturity and understanding of one's self and can last forever if the two parties are willing to work at it.

You can love anyone in your life. Being in love with someone is more specific. It is a more direct connection that is on an emotional plus spiritual plus physical level. It is an encompassing, exclusive love of compassion and passion, whereas loving someone is an instinctual love that can be felt towards family, friends, ect.

Loving someone is doing things for them that need to be done and spending time with them and caring for them when in need. Being in Love is something that grabs the heart, that your heart aches for the person you are in love with. That loving them in spit of their short comings, It is called unconditional Love. That kind of love is hard to find. You want to spend every waking moment with them. You can't live without this person in your life. I Love many people but I can only have one to be in Love with, Because You do not want to be with anyone else. But with this one special person.

* Being in love is a stepping stone towards loving someone.... providing that "stepping stone" stays solid.
* Being in love is something you THINK about 24/7....
* BUT loving someone is who you are FOREVER.... it is that intangible thing that defines you.

Being "in love" means you want to have sex with that person.
"Loving" someone = platonic.
