Hi.
I upgraded to Vista Ultimate and have yet to encounter any problems. Many saying its this/that are based on hear say or after beta testing. The final release is very stable.

You should wait until 2008. A lot of people have problems with Vista now, because it's brand new, and it may have bugs in it. If you have Windows XP, stick with it. If you're looking to upgrade to Vista from an earlier windows than XP, upgrade to XP instead. There are about 4 or 5 different versions of Windows XP that you can choose from, depending on your computer's specifications.

If you do not know the answer to your question already, I have to assume that you are not a computer whiz. (no offense intended)
With that in mind... Vista is a newer operating system and when an operating system is first released, there are always bugs that need to be worked out. Staying with your current operating system until vista has been tweaked will save you many headaches.
Not to mention the fact that it requires a lot of memory. I am willing to bet that your system does not have enough memory to run vista smoothly.
Bottom line, give Vista a good 8-12 months so many of the bugs are worked out. There will still be bugs, but not as many.
