Hm-mm....both are Islamic fascists, both kill civilians with homicide bombs, both are funded by Iran, both blindly hate progressive societies, ...the Hezbos hide behind the civilians when they attack sovereign states and Al Qaeda uses their tactics world wide, not limited to the Middle East. Not really too much difference.

Not much. They are both radical Islamic terrorist groups that want to destroy everything in the name of Allah. They do not value life, even their own.
Hezbollah's first intent was transforming Lebanon into an Islamic state. After realizing it is not practical they abandoned it. Now they are for elimination of the State of Israel. It's ironic that most of the Arab and Muslim worlds regard Hezbollah as a legitimate resistance movement. They are not about resistance, they are about aggression.
Al-Qaeda's main goal is the elimination of Israel, and the creation of new Islamic governments. They are also not about resistance and are all about aggression.
About the only difference is the strain of Islam that they preach. That would be like having a Baptist and a Methodist group out to destroy the world by using similar tactics and then attempting to find differences between the two.
Edit: I do not believe that Hezbollah's interests are more limited than Al-Qaeda's. They are simply more concentrated in their efforts. Once they achieve one goal they will not stop, but will move on to the next as evident in their abandonment of the effort to overtake the Lebanese government and their subsequent re-focus on Israel.

usarmorsoldier is right, and I was going to correct him about the IRA-Hezbollah comparison, but I realized it was the fact that they both have a militant wing and political wing that makes them similar.
One thing that Al-Qaida used to have in common with the Hezbollah, is that they too were supported by other nations, specifically the Taliban, and at one time, Sudan.

Hezbollah is mostly Shi'a; al-Queda is mostly Sunni.
Hezbollah is backed by Iran and Syria; al-Queda is backed mostly by bin Laden.
Hezbollah's goal is to take over Lebanon, kill Christians there, destroy Israel, not necessarily in that order; al-Queda's goal is to re-establish the Islamic Empire of the 15th century (from Spain through Indonesia) and slaughter all infidels.

Al Queda is a terrorist orginization that is predominantly Sunni and is backed by Osama Bin Laden and other wealthy radicals. They operate all over the world.
