I have had this pain for quite some weeks now (I'm 34 weeks now.) At 30 weeks I went into pre-term labor and was 50% effaced.
My doctor said part of the problem is that my baby has been dropped into position for a long time and she is pushing against my cervix. I had complained about this several weeks before I went into pre-term labor and she didn't seem to concerned.
I haven't given birth yet, so I can't tell you if it will be a terrible labor or not, but my guess is that you baby probably isn't breeched so that it always a good sign. I don't think the pain is caused because the baby's head wouldn't fit because I've had this pain since like week 26 or so and I know at that age her head wouldn't be that big.

I think I answered you before... You probalby don't feel like you got many answers becasue your OB is right - there is nothing more to it than stretching. I had it, too, even earlier than you, and it was very painful. I can't say it made for a more painful birth because I had an epidural and didn't feel a thing!!!! Good luck. GET THE EPIDURAL!!! It made for a pleasant delivery. I wasn't out of my mond with pan so I could be totally mentally present, and I enjoyed the delivery. It was a ton of work, obviously, but havin gno painjust made it so muchmore exciting and enjoyable. GOOD LUCK!

So I assume you've already told your OB about this pain, right? If not then I suggest that you do. But since you are so close to being due I think it's normal. Maybe it means that labor is coming soon and the baby's head is really low. Like I said above, if you haven't told your OB about how strong the pain is then I suggest telling her/him now.

I have this same pain!
I was told that the more children you have the worse it can be. Your pelvis is getting ready to deliver and moving. It is sort of like rebraking a bone over and over again.
It usually happens to me in the night, but I still get it at random times of the day to the point that I cannot walk!

You bet! Mostly when I was pregnant with #1 though (I'm now pg with #4) After she was engaged I swear I could feel her head turn on my cervix. Sometimes it was so bad I could barely stand up through it. It got really really bad the last few days before labour. I haven't had any of my other children engage before labour so I've never had it since. Sounds like you are getting pretty close

Yes I have had the same kind of pain near the end of my pregnancies...........it is just your body getting ready to have the baby. I described it to my Dr like a knife stabbing kind of pain.
Good Luck!
