I've found a great web page for you with photos from period magazines of kitchens in the 1930s and 1940s. The second link is to a page with photos of 1920s stoves and kitchens. When I was a child (1950s) I clearly remember cooking on a wood cook stove, kept because it was so useful due to easy availability of fuel. During the same period my grandmother used a wringer washer. The last link shows photos of them. For more information go to Google and in the search bar enter "kitchens 1920s" (or what ever decade you are interested in learning more about) and you'll get more sites.
