You won't be able to find hedge apples at this time of the year. They are a fall product, and sold with pumpkins, etc. If you are looking for the plant, try googling osage oranges. I am in NW OH, and they are all over our farmer's markets in the fall. The going rate, here, is 4-5 for $1.00

Boric acid should be available in pharmacies, but usually isn't. At least not in Phoenix. A local pharmacist told me that it was considered too toxic to sell to the general public.
Not sure if its policy or some govt regulation.
However, a technical grade is readly available as a roach killer.

You can buy boric acid at a pharmacy. I don't know about the apples.

You should be able to find boric acid at your local drug store. Be very cautious using this outside. In fact, you should only use indoors. Boron contamination is not good for your soil.

Indoors, mixed lightly with sugar will help with bug problems.

Yeah, you should find it at a pharmacy. Boric acid is also what they use in Visine eyedrops although it is not a very strong solution.
