are you referring to a exploratory laporoscopy, because i had this , i have pcos. i had my laporoscopy in 2000.
it is the only test i know of to get a good look at the fallopian tubes and to check all the other areas as well. if this what you are referring to then you will have to undergo a general anaesthetic it's key hole surgery so i is not so bad, you will be slightly sore for a few days. good luck.

I had it done twice. You might experience some cramping, but it isn't unbearable. And it doesn't last very long. It helps to relax and maybe take some Ibuprophen an hour ahead of time. It also helps if you have a good doctor who is gentle and sensitive to your comfort level.

My first pregnancy was ectopic and they had to remove my right tube. Then the doctor wanted me to have this test done. It could be that I had a partial blockage. After the procedure, I got pregnant right away. A couple of years or so later I was having trouble conceiving again and I asked the doctor if he would consider doing the test again. He agreed and within 2 cycles I got pregnant. Must have really opened me up or something! Anyway, I wish you the best of luck. Remember, try to be relaxed and not tense. I've had a couple of biopsies too, and the biopsies are much more painful than this test.

Please don't expect the same affect on yourself as it did with me I had complications. So,speaking from experience. The HSG test was extremely painful for me but my tubes were blocked and they were forcing the dye against the blockage.
I also found out later that I was allergic to dye.

MOST woman when they have the test done are uncomfortable due to the dye being forced threw the tube, mild cramping providing there is no blockage. If there is no blockage then the dye will just spill out of the tube, and that's what you wanna see.

You're GYN has probably recommended you to have a hysterosalpingogram or HSG. It's a radiological exam where dye is injected into the uterus and through the fallopian tubes to check for any blockage. The exam is probably as uncomfortable as a pap smear.

i have it also. but i have never had the test. i think it is just getting an internal ultrasound done and it is not painful at all. just relax. if you stress your self it can be pain ful you just need to be relaxed.
