The coolant is leaking from under the throttle body and appears to be coming from the intake manafold. I dont know if coolant is circulated through this manafold or not. The coolant only seems to leak out rapidly when the engine is reved up, could it be a manafold gasket and has anyone replaced this before? Thanks!

Yes I've done this job.

No the coolant doesn't flow through the TB but yes through the manifold.

At a shop it's about a $600-800 job. This kind of a chronic problem with this engine. You should be sure to use "Fel Pro Problem Solver" gaskets. (Yes Fel Pro really calls them problem solvers in their description because they have a lot of nice steel reinforcement to prevent the distortion that causes the original gaskets to fail.)

Have you done engine work before? If so it's not too bad. Probably something you could do in one LONG Saturday, assuming no glitches. Go ahead and replace the valve cover gaskets while you're there.

If you plan on keeping this car, I would have to work done ASAP. These gaskets leak INTO the engine oil as well, not just out! So you are slowly killing your engine. Otherwise trade the car ASAP and let someone else deal with it.

I would use a enthusiast site on the web and read up a lot on other's experiences with this fix before you begin. It's common.

(The leak affects all pushrod V6s almost... not just plastic manifolded cars such as the N/A 3800. This car doesn't have a plastic intake manifold I don't think, I admit I can't quite remember it was last summer I did the last one of these jobs.)

there are a couple of cooling lines located under the throttle body, they are on a bracket that bolts to the throttle body, check those hoses for leaks.
