He has almost doubled the national debt in 6 years, a feat that no President has ever been capable of, even a wartime president.

It can be said to be Bush's debt as he is responsible for budget.

smedrik, the debt has only increased by about 50% in the last 6 years, not doubled.

As for no other president doubling the debt in 6 years, I think you're forgetting about FDR. The debt went from $50.7 millions in 1940 to $271.0 in 1946. Thats an increase of 5.3 times in 6 years.

StevenH, 4 trillions dollar surplus? There has never been that type of surplus in the federal budget. The apparent 'surplus' in FY2001 was 128 billion. This was not a real surplus however as it spent the social security surplus now and wrote IOU's for future generations. This caused the federal debt to go up in spite of having a 'surplus.' A true surplus would have reduced the federal debt.

The debt is not Bush's. Only the congress can spend money in our system of government. The President has no control over this. Congress controls all spending. The congress spends the money, then uses the liberal press to make it look like Bush did it. Maybe if you would study and learn the facts instead of just watching the liberal press and believing everything you are told, you wouldn't have to embarrass yourself asking stupid questions.

And, to think we had a 4 trillion dollar surplus when Bush took office. How much more can be wasted between now and January 20, 2009?

The 6 years of neocon controlled Congress + robbing programs such as veterans administration to pay for the (Haliburton) war and borrow the rest from our grand children.

They should all be ashamed.

President Bush does not have a debt - our country does. Look back in history - when was the last time we had no debt?

Unfortunately, it is not the Bush debt, but our country's. He has sure created a big mess that will take decades to clean up, not just fiscally, but in general.

Bush and Cheney are the biggest losers in the universe. They have to be shaking in their cowardly shoes, hoping God isn't taking notice of all the evil they have accomplished.

God bless America and our troops, who deserve better than these lousy creeps.
