Just a common notation that at one time was the "politically correct" term. "White" people are properly classed as "Caucasian", but the proper classificatio for "Black" which is "*****" has been deemed politically incorrect. At one time the term was "Colored". Nope - can't say that. So then it became "*****". Nope- can't say that. Next was "people of color". Nope - can't say that. Now the most common acceptable term is "African American" which is flawed itself, since not all people of African ancestry are black, and not all blacks are necessarily of African ancestry.
By the way - who first said that using the word "colored" was racially insensitive? The NAACP. Go ahead. Ask them what the letters NAACP stand for.
Instead of white (caucasion), black (*******), brown (hispanic), red (american indian), or yellow (asian), why can't we go with the term "person", since none of us are truly 100% any "color" any more. I have been able to trace my ancestry back to at least 4 of the aforementioned 5 (no documentation of asian - yet).

NO, Java Jive, the original africans are NOT all BLACK! :)
thats right! Fulani's and the kung-sang of south Africa, all have very light complexions!!!
They are called black, because of imagine you are a caucasian that is seeing a dark person for the fist time, you will definately call them black now wouldn't you?
White people are actually pink in color (okay 99% of them) but they still are called whites!
Its just so much easier to put people in boxes and groups, thats all

When "we" were first brought here, that is what the slave masters associated our skin color to be. And seeing as though there are different races of people who's skin color is actually brown (ex. Asians, Mexicans, ect.), it is just easier to differentiate between the races.

they are brown becaused they mixed with white. the original blacks (in africa) are indeed black
