I have a compaq presario 1640 and a 1925 both with XP.

You should have a 'touchpad' icon down in your system tray (lower right, by your clock). Right-click on it and go to properties.

There are tons of options in there, including turning off the tap function.

Go to control panel and see if there's a section for the touchpad or it may be under 'mouse'

If you cannot find it the software might not be installed for it then you would have to install the driver/software and turn it off.

Go to your control panel and open up the keyboard and mouse options. In there, you should see a box to check/uncheck option with words reading something similar to what you want to do.

That should take care of you.

on the bottom right of the screen
is an icon for the touch pad
right click and open it
go from there
