Focus on hitting - top pitching prospects will change drastically from year/year, but top hitters are usually pretty reliable.

Focus on guys in the 25-27 age range.

From a position by position standpoint, focus on the following:

C - Russell Martin/Chris Iannetta - both are young guys that will produce this year and will help in the future
1B - Prince Fielder/Ryan Shealy/Connor Jackson - they are all going to get full time jobs this year and while Fielder is more proven - they are all worth a roster spot
2B - Ian Kinsler/Rickie Weeks/Howie Kendrick - these guys all look like future stars and are all right around age 25. If you take two of these three, you could very well have the top secondbaseman for the next 10 years.
3B - Ryan Zimmerman - only 2 years out of college, and already has a 20 home run season under his belt.
OF - Carlos Quentin - he's not getting much press, but a great player to target, a future 30/100 player
SP - Cole Hamels/Felix Hernandez/Matt Cain - all three should be major stars in the next couple of seasons - all of them are potential 200 k guys.
CL - Jonathan Broxton, Joel Zumaya, Chad Orvella - all could start getting saves in teh 2nd half of this year - I wouldn't spend much on these guys as top closing candidates are very volatile!

Think past the first year results and draft with the concept of building an empire. In other words, look for ability with youth AND health. For example, while Sheffield might have a great year or two left in him and help win a title this year, he won't provide you much down the line.

Also, look for future position options. Right now Utley is a standout above other 2B and I haven't seen any upcoming contenders. This makes him more valuable.

Next, look for category rarities - right now SBs. Obviously, Reyes comes to mind here.

Finding a gem starter is a good idea too, but not too early. Cole Hamels is an example here. He seems to be healthy, will get tons of Ks, should get wins, and has a respectable ERA and Whip (which I think may get even better). Although Halladay will go earlier in the draft, he has too many problems to consider for a keeper.

Hope that helps a little.....

First off, take Pujols or Howard if you can get them. Also look at Joel Zumaya, and Justin Verlander for pitchers. Right there is some young talent to start up a keeper ball club. Also, look at Joe Mauer and Miguel Cabrera.

I'm not sure how many teams are in this league, but you will probably get 1 of the four position players, and maybe one of the pitchers.

This was just off the top of my head as far as young quality talent.

Best of luck to you, and hope this helps.

Go for young hitters. Pitchers frequently get injured-only Santana should be picked in the first three rounds. If these guys are experienced, they will follow this strategy. Look for guys who are entering their prime , contribute in 5 catagories, don't get hurt a lot, and position scarcity.
