Sam Raimi. I prefer his movies to Peter Jacksons. And Peter doesn't use BRUCE CAMPBELL!

Personally I don't believe either of them are all that great. I have little faith in American directors since I haven't seen a good movie that didn't come from Studio Ghibli in about three years. So, by association, Hayao Miyazaki is the best director.
