When I yawn I have to stop half way through it because it is too soar. I also suffer from a clicking noise when I am eating or even kissing!! The clicking tends to come from my right side though it hurts on my left side. It also hurts when I move my jaw from side to side.

If you weren't punched... you probably have an infected tooth or inflamation in your jaw. Take some motrin or Ibprphn and if it doesn't feel better, it's probably a doctor question

TMJ

What Are the Symptoms of TMJ?
TMJ disorders have many signs and symptoms. It's often hard to know for sure if you have TMJ, because one or all of these symptoms can also be present for other problems. Your dentist can help make a proper diagnosis by taking a complete medical and dental history, conducting a clinical examination and taking appropriate X-rays.

Some of the most common TMJ symptoms include:

• Headaches (often mimicking migraines), earaches, and pain and pressure behind the eyes

• A clicking or popping sound when you open or close your mouth

• Pain brought on by yawning, opening the mouth widely or chewing

• Jaws that "get stuck," lock or go out

• Tenderness of the jaw muscles

• A sudden change in the way the upper and lower teeth fit together

i had the same problem my g.p. sent me to the dentist at the hospital where they found out that i'd pushed my teeth out of alignment by grinding my teeth together when i sleep this affected the jaw socket, they made me a mouthpiece like they wear when boxing i had to wear it every night to stop me grinding my teeth together, not very sexy for your partner to see but it worked.
