They have a rep as one of the thirstiest vehicles on the road.
I do want one, but I think I would convert it to LPG.

I had a 3.0 sport diesel auto and it did about 25 to the gallon, i think 19 is about right for the petrol, depends on how you drive it suppose.
Note: i got rid of the X5 had nothing but problems with it, just to make you aware. It was only 3 yrs old, FSH by BMW and just out of warranty when this happened:-
Brand New Fuel System @ 50K miles
New Gear Box (all of it replaced!)
Ceramic Fuel Jets broke (after the new fuel system)
About 7 grand in total
Oh im forgetting about the car jacking... they didnt get far, the tracker was the only thing that worked!
Apart from that it was a great car, downside it has put me off from buying another.

relies upon on the year, yet clean it may do about 23 miles to the gallon in accordance to BMW. yet heavily, do no longer purchase one. i will not propose you larger strongly hostile to the BMW X5. once you're searching for an SUV attempt Toyota, in case your searching for an SUV which will look reliable on the golf route flow for a Land Rover Discovery or determination Rover.

Official figures are 22mpg for the manual and 21mpg for the automatic.
In reality, you'll get better on a long run, but worse around town.
