It's a deliberate pass back to the goalie. Indirect freekick should be awarded.

It is considered a deliberate pass back to the goalie because he initiated the action with his feet.

Deliberate is the key word here. If he miskicks the ball and heads it back to the goalie, that is perfectly legal.

But then again, it's at the discretion of the referee if he thinks it's deliberate or not.

I don't think this violates the laws of football, but I might be wrong.

According to http://www.fifa.com/en/laws/Laws12_02.htm an indirect free-kick is awarded when the goalkeeper "touches the ball with his hands after it has been deliberately kicked to him by a team-mate", but if a player flicks the ball up and heads it, then that isn't really kicking it to the goalkeeper.

Neither, that would be perfectly legal, as the last touch from the defender was from the head and not the feet, cannot be ruled as a back-pass.

no it wouldnt.... sum refs may call it because they are gay but it is legal... if you head it back isnt not bad if he picks it up but it is illegal if the ball passed to the keeper by the player is a kick...

Quite legal and no foul. But dangerous if the opposing side is closeby.

no,

but if he has the time / space to do that one would ask why the keeper would want to pick it up, also whether it is worth passing to keeper at all

mm I spose you could but you would have to be good and confident, but i would just quickly lie down on the floor and header it from the floor so it rolls to the keeper and he can pick it up.

As I understand it that is what they call a 'contrived' move and is illegal.
