This deals with the AMerican culture of isolation (like, going through the drive thru), materialism, our individuality and our pursuit of happiness through food. Any comments are great.

Hi, I'm American but my parents are Mexican so I grew up eating authentic Mexican food....I live in Italy now. Some Americans eat healthy, but unfortunately a lot don't (especially in the rural poor areas). My brother is a doctor in rural Alabama and he's always telling me they only eat fat-greasy foods and don't know what fresh fruit and veggies are. So sad! I know a lot of Americans that are either too lazy or just don't have the "culinary experience" to cook their own food....it's either tv dinners, white-bread sandwhiches with spam, take-out, etc. I have noticed that people tend to eat a lot healthier in certain areas such as California, but it's not the case in many other areas.

A lot of Americans dont seem to have any comprehension of what a Healthy Diet is. They eat a lot of Splodgy Food. A lot of there food is full of Steroids especially in the Meat. They have Genetically modified Food . The People of Europe refuse to touch anything that is Altered in the way of Foodstuffs. They eat an Awful lot of Meat Especially in the Cowboy States Giant Size Chunks of Steak and French Fries. They take the Car everywhere and nobody seems to walk there. They have a huge Problem with Overweight. The American Habit of Supersizing should stop dont be Eating extra Food. All Splodge Food should be Barred by Law, and Healthy Eating should be Encouraged in the Home and in Schools and Workplaces. Cut out the Fizzy Drinks Mentality no Pepsi or Cokes or other Sugary Rubbish in the Schools.

I am an American, but I hope what I have to say about this does not discount me.
I believe the problem lies in Americans not (or not wanting to) exercising much; I believe that the fact that America is a world power and has access to technology and the type of lifestyle that it entails contributes to this. As a result of technology, it has become easier and cheaper to mass produce fast food and other unhealthy foods and as a result of technology, it is easier to get them. Therefore, less of us want to actually stay home and cook a healthy meal. Instead we just throw a TV dinner in the microwave or order cheap take out food. I also believe that there is not much health promotion going on, that is, until it is too late.

I feel is really sad and lonely, they are missing in lots of good times in the company of others, I think eating is a time of body, mind & emotional nurturing, but fast food is not nurturing for the body and isolation is not nurturing for the mind and emotions.

I think many Americans live to eat while others (non-Americans) eat to live. the endemic is slowly but surely being addressed but now it is up to the individuals to change there way of life.
