No one should ever be tortured.

Except for the possible exception of people who think that torture is OK in certain circumstances.

Even these people should only be tortured until they change their minds about torture.

First, what the Nazis (doctors is a very generous term when you consider that the Hippocratic Oath promises to honor life) did was NOT in any way, shape or form O.K. for ANY reason, period.
Torture is inhumane no matter who is carrying it out and for whatever reason. It should NEVER, under any circumstances, be done.
That said, how many people do you think would honor this? People always seem to be able to come up with some sort of twisted rationale for the most abominable of things (which brings us full circle to the Nazis). 'Nuff said.

I think it depends on one's view of human dignity or the ethical framework in which one chooses to formulate concepts. A deontologist might think that it is always wrong to torture moral or rational agents. The act of torture does not show respect for basic human dignity. On the other hand, a utilitarian might conclude that torture is justifiable in those cases where it brings about the greatest good for the greatest number. I personally am not in favor of torturing humans.

So, through your words, If I was to kidnap you, "Skin" you alive without painkillers, then tell you "I'm doing this for research. It might save a 100 lives tomorrow." Your going to say, "Oh ok. As long as it saves lives. Right? Serial Killer?!?"
And on that note: Would you volunteer for an experiment of that nature? I'll give you a reference if it helps...

And ask a real question, please...

Yes.

And I don't have to give any reasons other than:
stopping death is logically equivalent to saving lives.

P→P is a tautology, it's always true.

If you want justification for "P" alone, then consider a case where 10,000,000 innocents will die if you don't interrogate the man accused of setting a "ticking time bomb" in the city.

No, it is never ok to torture anyone. We humans have the necessary knowledge to extract the truth by other means.
Those who use torture do so because they like to inflict pain.
