I did some research as to the no mint mark pennies, but all I found was that prior to 1980 philadelphia had no mint mark. I also found that between 1965 and 1967 no mint marks were used or something like that. I have two 2006 pennies with no markings can someone explain this?

Cents minted at the Philadelphia mint have no mint mark. In 1980 a P was finally authorized, as a mint mark for coins, minted in Philadelphia, except for the cent. The P was used on nickels 1942-1945 as a way of saying they were wartime silver alloy nickels. The mint marks were large and over the dome on the reverse. After the war the P disappeared until 1980. Hope this answers your question.

It is not abnormal for a coin to be lacking a mint mark. According to the book that I use for pricing coins, there has been no mint mark on pennies minted in Philadelphia for quite some time. Any time a coin lacks a mint mark, it is assumed to be a P mint mark.
