As others have said, I don't think it is a good thing either. I used to help out on another computer help site as well just for the love of helping people. I was once in the same position as many others right here on Yanswers. I did not know how to fix or make my computer better. Someone helped me out and I am returning the knowledge I acquired back to the public. When I hear back from someone that has been able to fix their computer using one of my suggestions, it brings a big smile to my face. That is all I am looking for.

You know now that I think about it....I sure am a top contributor

actually, i just sit around at my desk all the time bored out of my mind so i help the helpless. now technically i do get a paycheck every other week but not from yahoo so this still falls under the category of benevolent and chartible contribution....a little recognition is the least they could do

Believe me, it wasn't my idea to put the label as a "Top Contributor" on myself. I like helping people when I can, not to make it a contest. Hey, I actually learn something new everyday from this site that prevents me from having to ask questions that already have been asked. If people are jealous and want to "hate", then that's on them. I try to keep it modest, and humble whenever I can.

The Top contributors above me (as I write this) have high best answer scores, and are worthy of a title whether they want it or not.
But many Top contributors have quite low best answer scores, which I think should be the marker.
After all we will all get higher points if we stick with it long enough.
I think most people will judge them by their questions and their answers.

Sure it does! I aint even here for points! I enjoy helping people with serious questions! I have a morbid hatred for PC shops that rob the beejeesus outta poor, unsuspecting people! If I can save them money, thats all the reward I need! Some people are just .......well.....we wont go there. I wish they would take the dam thing off of mine! Makes me feel like I'm in the danger zone!
