ethylene glycol or ethandiol is a bis-alcohol
OH-CH2-CH2-OH
is used in coolant liquid mixtures (your car for example) and it's toxic.

propylene glycol is 1 carbon longer.
OH-CH2-CH2-CH2-OH
it's used in shampoos, dishwashing liquid and it's considered non toxic

Glycerin is a tri-alcohol
