do people create competition for their bids on eBay?

I was thinking about creating a "dummy" account to create competitive bidding on my listing. You guys think this is dishonest or a good musiness move? And do people do it? Thanks

What you are considering doing is considered "shilling" by eBay and is against their terms of agreement. If you are caught doing it, you could be suspended or banned from selling again. (Go to their website and read the terms for sellers.)

There are sellers who do this, but if someone suspects it, they can be reported to eBay by anyone. You do it at your own risk.

Personally, I think it's dishonest and I don't do it myself. You also run the risk of being left the high bidder, and you would still be liable for the listing fees and final value fees.

Yes, people do it. ( just like people on Y/A run up their scores ) but it is against the rules and you will be banned from Ebay if they catch you. A lot of times they work with friends, who bid up items. Just remember, you can bid it up, but what happens when no one outbids your dummy account or your friend. ?? Just play by the rules and do the best that you can.

eBay has systems in place to catch this. If you get away with it, you are being dishonest. If you get caught, you risk at best being banned from eBay and at worst a lawsuit for fraud.

I'm sure some do it, but when they are caught, they are finished with ebay.
