"I haven't seen the replay, but if you ask me what I thought about the play when it happened, I don't think he did it intentionally, and I don't think players should be suspended for things that happen unintentionally," Jaric told ESPN.com. "I think he was trying to draw a foul, and he swung his hand out to make it look dramatic, and he hit me by accident. He apologized right after."

Yeah, and that's worse than Karl Malone throwing elbows, Michael Jordan pushing off, and Shaq throwing people to the ground.

C'mon, he flails his arms and maybe hits a guy. It's not as bad as putting your foot under the shooters foot, driving your knee into a man's chest as you drive in, and intentionally bowing someone in the head as you take a shot.

It might be intentional, but I don't think he does it with malice in mind and does not merit a suspension.

He definitely flailed his arms on purpose, whether or not he was trying to hit Jaric is a different question. Once you get the reputation as a dirty player, which Bryant now has, everyone will assume that the hit was intentional.

Personally, I think it was intentional and others also agree with that conclusion. Read this article by an NBA analyst:

http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/blog/nba_experts/post/Kobe-the-cheap-shot-artist?urn=nba,25988

Also, the fact that the NBA suspended him should be a good indicator that it was an intentional hit.

I like the YouTube video the first responder has. If it isn't clear that he intentionally threw an elbow, I don't know what would be.

It isn't a matter of whether or not Kobe did it on purpose. He has a history of doing this. When his shot gets knocked away on his way into the shooting motion he flails his arms and he ends up hitting the man guarding him. He has a history of this; it's the second time this season he's done it in a more or less obvious fashion. By doing this he's embarrassing the league, the Lakers and himself. Someone guarding him knocked the ball loose. If it's a foul sobeit, step up to the line and drop the free throws. If it's not a foul then congrats to the defensive player for knocking the ball loose. It's all a part of the game and if Kobe doesn't understand that after this long in the league then he's not too bright.

I don't know about it being unintentional. I've seen the replay on youtube and it looked like he did it on purpose. There was also a montage of all the elbows Kobe has thrown. And it seems like the same move. The one he gave to Mike Miller was probably the most blatant--it followed Mike Miller's accidental arm to Kobe's face during a drive. Kobe was actually the cause of Mike's slap as he pulled Mike's arm into his face. I think he should be renamed the "Revenge Seeker". He needs some anger management.

I remember when he did it the first time this season and we were talking to Danny Granger about it and he said everyone in the league knows Kobe did it on purpose, and that Kobe was the dirtiest player in the league. Kobe did it on purpose, your arms natural motion isnt to fall sideways when following through so that excuse is crap. He was upset someone challenged his shot and won. Kobe can use whatever excuse he wants if you watch the replays of when he hit the people in the face, and other times he followed through you will see a difference. When he hits someone his arms magically fall right on the guys face, other times his arms fall fall forward and not to the side of his body. Kobe should have gotten 5 games.

Kobe is extemely embarrassed to heve been shown up by two foreigners and his only response is to retaliate in a cowardly manner. He has stooped even lower. He is on the way out and he knows it. Yay Ginobili and Jaric. Someone should let him get a break away lay up and "take him out" let him see how it feels.

I really don't know...He probably didn't do it on purpose..cause Marko Jaric sucks..Now last year when he did it to Raja Bell that was on purpose..because Bell is a tenacious defender that is all over Obe One Kobe..but Jaric is trash..why would he hit him..

he didnt try to hurt him on purpose...but he did flail his arms on purpose..what greg anthony said on espn is that he is constantly looking for fouls so he flails like that with the intention of getting a foul...it still doesnt make it right
