Are you looking for rappers that have their poetry published in books? If so, that's gonna be kind of hard to find. Ashanti isn't a rapper but she has a book of REALLY nice poetry. Its called Foolish/Unfoolish: Reflections on love. You should also check out some of the Def Poetry Jam dvd's. They rappers featured on some of the shows.

Well not just rappers write poetry almost all art est do. Its in there songs, but there is not other way to show people how you feel but to write poetry. its not the same to say she was 5'11 blond that walked down the street, then to say she was a beautiful tall women with nice blond hair gracefully walking down the street. You name any rapper I'm sure you'll see poetry. Another besides 2pac would be pitbull, but its not its top hits, but some of his songs on his new cd.

I know MANY poets who could put crap like 50 Cent, Usher and all those other degenerate look-a-likes to shame with their rap. Rap wouldn't be here if it wasn't for poetry, so essentially, by saying poetry sucks, you just pretty much said rap sucks as well, so you just shot yourself in the foot. And you're saying that poetry is melodramatic, yet you listen to rap? Are you kidding me? "Oh boo hoo my mummy hated me and I got shot and my bro died and I got high and smacked some bitches and I grew up in a bad estate that's why I got a gun and started shooting people in different gangs but it's okay cuz I was brought up in a rough area so it's excuseable" ........ Yeah. I don't need to say any more.

mos def writes poetry and these other ppl are wrong rap is a form of poetry whether people want to admit it or not.

Rap and art are mutually exclusive. Poetry is a kind of art.
There is no such thing as a rapper who writes poetry. Or if there is, he doesn't put his poetry in his "songs"
