I have a 29 gallon freshwater tank. I have guppies, tetra's, mollies and a couple other fish. I feed them a variety of foods. There is nothing that will hurt the fish as long as you make sure that the food is formulated for "Fresh Water" fish.

Feeding a variety of foods will help your fish with their color, and will also provide them with a variety of nutrients. I have been doing this since starting my tank over 18 months ago. I have had only one fish die (a guppy) and the color of my fish is beautiful. I started with 3 guppies, and now have over 30 - I have had to start selling them to a local pet store once the are mature because they multiply so quickly!!

It is always best to vary your fish diet with other supplements such as FD or frozen brine shrimp. You can also vary the staple food. This said, TetraMin is one of the worst staple foods available. I base this on many years of professional aquarium maintenance and research. All you need to do to verify this is to look at the ingredients. TetraMin is high in cereals which is mostly just roughage. Fish need there energy more from fats and their proteins in digestible amino acids form mostly aquatic sources. PLEASE read this article about fish nutrition to see what I am talking about:

Tetramin flake makes a fine staple food for your fish. I would suggest you also add in some frozen or freeze dried foods as well though as the fish would great benefit from that. Feed The flakes once a day, like in the morning and feed one of the other foods once a day , maybe in the evening... which ever works for you.

Maybe you could try some of those freeze dried worms. They sell them for beta's. One down side would be that if they are not all consumed they will cloud the water.
