yes.
"terror" is just a vague self-serving concept. Pure propaganda. Nations cannot wage war on an idea.

Since the US's "Imperial" ambitions are limited to wiping out terrorists and the governments that support them (Yes, Saddam did support them, remember the $25,000 to each "martyr's" family), then I don't think this qualifies under the traditional idea of an empire. However, I have to wonder what's wrong with an empire anyway? Especially when we are dealing with people that either cannot or will not govern themselves in an acceptable manner on the world stage. There is little doubt that the Taliban in Afghanistan and Saddam Hussein did not want to play by the rules that govern civilized international discourse. It makes sense to smack them down and replace them with people who will act within those guidelines.

Some unthinking people would say so. But I find it difficult to understand logically since there is no "empire" as such, either directly or indirectly, being expanded. How does the US or George Bush benefit in any way by the war on terror, except by making the world safer for all?

If by that you mean an expansion of the "multinational" corporate empire, without a doubt.
Read "American Theocracy."

No. It is an attempt to squash a group who think is is fun to smash airplanes into buildings killing as many as possible. But judging from you question it is OK if anyone comes and robs you and breaks your leg. You would be OK with that and probably send them a Christmas card eh!

I don't believe it is. He is just one of those millions of us that believe these radicals want to kill all of us christians and we must do something about it. If a group of people threatened your family, then followed through and killed your family members many times, wouldn't you think they ment it? Are you one of those that believe it is best to put your head in the sand so maybe nothing will happen?

if we wanted an empire we would own most of the world. We always give back to the people after we rebuild. Look at europe and japan (WWII) and now the middle east.
