Then stick to the basics! Does your work require color accuracy? If so use neutral whites and variations of colors like an ecru, eggshell, bone white (great choice), in other words nothing that would a color reflection that would change what your work is. If this isn't the case try a step up from those colors like a buttery yellow (not brilliant but soft) to give brightness and glow to a work environment. Yellows mimic sunshine, are reflective and are a positive mood enhancer.
Subtle will be your friend, use brightly colored curtains for contrast and to change the reflective colors from outside.

My opinion...
Don't go with white. I hate white walls, makes it feel like an asylum. Some thing bright would be good or even a little darker maybe. Or mix it up, it is reall good to break up the room by painting a nice color and adding a boarder or what I have seen a lot of lately is painting three walls and wallpapering the forth. I have seen some bad ones like this but I have seen a lot more really nice rooms like this.

If you want bright and alot of light, I think you should do Yellow. That'll make it like sunshine in there everyday, even on the bad weather days.

Eggshell white is not as harsh as pure white and looks good + it reflects a nice, even light without glare.

Otherwise, go for a very soft gray - which looks very sophisticated.
