No, but a lot does depend on where you move to and where your moving from. If you move from someplace like New York to Alabama, it will be a pretty big adjustment. The lifestyles are quite different, and people are much more polite. If you made the same move to someplace like Tampa, it will be lees of an adjustment because there are more transplants there. I live in the NE and had moved to FL and lived there for 8 years and loved it. I had to move back to get a decent job, but plan on moving back in a few years as the NE Sux with filth, rude people, crime and unmentionables. If you look around and know where to go you will find places to get familiar foods and other products, I did. The only thing that use to be annoying was people would say we don't care how you did it up north, and I would always reply then you don't want the job done right, am I correct?

It depends on exactly where you move. Yes, you will find ignorance, racism and such. The difference is; in the South it's pointed out as ignorance, racism, intolerance, back-wardness etc. In the North it's simply accepted as Nothern attitude or toughness. Alot of Northerners assume of racism in the South when in many cases they haven't been around a different race their entire lives. I have friends from Boston, Ohio and Penn. who have not talked to more than 3 black people their whole lives. But to answer your queston, No, it's not hard. Just don't try too hard to be a yankee. Be a good citizen, that works everywhere (cue sappy music)

Not at all if you like white trash racists and boiled peanuts only joking sort of I encountered alot of racism in Georgia even tho I felt like the minority being white it was mostly less fortunate somewhat uneducated people who wore rebel flags who were racist can't tell you how many times I heard I'm not a racist but... On a more positive note I loved the south the majority of the people were unbelievably kind and considerate and the southern drawl makes me melt luv it when those boys said yes ma'am. As for the accent I am from the Midwest and the people that I encountered got a big kick out of my accent lots of Fargo jokes!

It's so much better there, I wouldn't find it hard at all.
The attitude of the Southerners is different though.
If a Yankee goes down for vacation, we are called Yankee.
If we go there to live there, they call us a damned Yankee.

It's not impossible. It's funny, I'm originally a southerner and I have wanted to head north sometimes. Grass is always greener on the other side, isn't it. I would be nice to you, but I know some people who wouldn't be. Just try not to worry about what other people think. I'll try to follow my own advice now lol.

If you dig the country scene and are into fishing and shooting claybirds and tubing in teh river and looking for hellbenders in a creek and don't mind in general overly conservative and religous people go for it. The cities have a lot to offer culturally so it can be a huge shock.

It's absolutely horrid.

I'm 21, but I was 17 when I moved from NJ to Louisiana (my dad transferred). Everything I had assumed about that place was completely true. I go to school in FL right now...but I can't wait to move back to NJ in another year. There's no good pizza.

its stupid i love it here though

even though i didnt move to far down
i moved from NC to SC
the main diffrence is everyone knows everything about you before you even move there, theres so much drama, and theres not a lot to do.

i like it here in SC better than NC though.

Not really. Everyone will tease you about your accent but that's about it. Be polite and courteous and you will get it in return.
