Gutanamo Bay needs to remain open as a place to house terrorists- its needed as a way to protect freedom. I'd like to see similiar camps open in America where we could send off all the muslims and liberals. People need to realize we are at a war for freedom, and if we dont deal with these people who hate freeedom- we might just lose freedom.

It should be shut down and anyone that suggests to do so gets my full support.

That said, I do not sympathise with the stupid reason suggested here. One is not a detainee without due process. As everyone knows, first you accuse someone, then you prosecute them and sentence them. If proven guilty the attribution of detainee is appropriate.

the reason dubya will never bring them home to the us is that as soon as they are there, they need to get trialled as described. And since they internment is illegal to start off with it will be thrown out and he looks like the idiot he is

Just so we are clear on this: Shut down this US embarrasment

Yes--though frankly, I'd support such a plan even if it cost money--because then the Bush administration could be held accountable for how these detainees are treated and dealt with. I've no use for those that are terrorists--but we are hurting hourselves by allowing Bush to run a concentration camp--which is about all Gitmo is.

If we bring them to the U.S., they would fall under the jurisdiction of State and Federal Courts, and the lawsuits would cost far more money than housing them in Cuba. We need to charge the detainees with crimes ASAP, however.

Yep and let the fine people of Vermont take care of them since they seem to know how to stop Muslim terrorists than everyone else.
Or let San Franisco take the overflow too.
