I am pregnant and got "sick" in my bedroom a few nights ago. My husband and I used a steam cleaner that we got from my in-laws after we got up the bulk. The steam cleaner had a bunch of leaks and despite the fact that we kept our windows open (brrr) and put a small fan directly on the spot, the extremely thick remained wet for days. I had it professionally cleaned yesterday, but once it dried it smelled worse! Please help!!!

Shaunice,
Mildew is very bad for your health, just rip out the carpet.
And since you are pregnant, Do not have any carpets in the baby's room either. The dust that collects in the carpets and also stuffed animals are allergens, and can cause the baby to become asthmatic.
We had all our carpets ripped out, and sanded down the hardwood floors.

I agree with MomX2. Take the carpet out: Chances are that it and the padding are too thoroughly infested with mold and mildew to be safe for you or the baby.

since you are renting and probably cant take out the carpet i would spray really good with Lysol spray. it is supposed to kill mildew. you may want to think about moving to a place without carpet.
