1)he shoots 20.8 shots a game, Allen Iverson shoots 21.6 and Gilbert Arenas shoots 21.5, kobe averages more points than both of em!!! so why arent they ballhogs?!?! by the way Carmelo anthony shoots an incredible 23.6 shots per game!!! and is only averaging 1 point more than kobe... in 3 more shots!!! Kobe takes just as many shots as Ray Allen (20.8) and averages 3 more points!!!! why isnt ray allen a ballhog?!?!?! Lebron James averages only 0.1 shots less (20.7) and kobe averages 2 more points than him!!!! why isn't lebron James a ballhog?!?!?!

2)Kobe Bryant is #18 in Assists Per Game at 5.7, Gilbert Arenas has 5.8 and Lebron has 5.9. yea thats SO much more than kobe!!! so if kobe's a ballhog, why arent they!?!?!

3)For a ballhog and a 'non team player" it's kinda ironic that he averages more assists than anyone else on his team

he's gotten better, but he still takes a contested 3 pointer with 3 defenders instead of passing the ball down low to the wide open big man...

The numbers don't tell the true story. He may "only" average 20.8 shots a game, but he is also bringing the ball up the court and generally trying to control the game. Observing his play this year he IS passing more, but he is an unwilling passer. Passes seem forced, not fluid. Comparing his numbers to others is irrelevant because of what each one means to his team and the style of play of the team and the offensive sets of the team.

In answer to your point #2: He should be averaging MORE assists with the Triangle offense (MJ did) because it is a motion offense that gets everyone involved. It is his unwillingness to pass that clouds this. You mention Arenas; Kobe averages more turnovers and less assists than Agent Zero. You also mentioned LeBron; Kobe averages more turnovers, less assists and less blocks than King James.

In answer to your point #3: He should average more than anyone on his team. He is averaging 9 more minutes per game than the next player on the Lakers.

It is not hard to lead your team in assists when you have the ball in your hands during EVERY offensive possesion(ie. ballhog). Especially when you aren't even the point guard. Every so often you have to pass on the shot and give someone else who has a better look a shot. Kobe gets the ball in his possesion 50 or 60 times a night, easy. And he averages 5.* assists. What a giving guy he is.

Well in my opinion they are all ballhogs, but look at kobe, he knows he can score at basically any time he wants, and he has the abillity to make good passes and make his teammates better but just doesnt do that.He allways is wanting to get points and be selfish.Thats how LeBron was when he first came to the NBA but he is passing more now.Youd think Kobe would realize that he needs to pass more!

While your Stats are correct, Kobe Bryant has earned is name as a ball hog. Even Phil Jacksons agrees with that assesment. Kobe is a very good player, but he needs to be a team player, and less self-centered.

Some people consider him a ball hog and some don't. I personally don't and think that he actually needs to take more shots for his team to win because no one else can really score. They need to trade for another scorer.
