To whom it may concern:

Please accept this as my resignation letter. Kindly take note
that effective ____________ it will be my last working day.
I have taken the time to give you a two-week notice, in which time, you will be able to hire someone as my replacement.

Thanking you for your kind co-operation, I remain,
Yours truly,

The content of your letter will depend on the reason you are resigning. From experience, I have seen that resignation letters are short and to the point.

Example: "Effective 8/15/2007 I resign my position of Bank Teller at XYZ Bank due to personal reasons. Please know that I am appreciative of the opportunity to have worked at your company. If you have any questions or concerns please let me know"

I'm only showing you the above as an example and not saying that this is the format you should use. It all depends on your situation. I have no idea why you are resigning. Maybe you're not appreciative of having worked there.. know what I mean?

Short and sweet. Make sure to include your last date and don't say anything negative, they will be one of your references.

don't say anything bad in case you burn bridges. Keep it brief. say you have enjoyed working there but other opportunities have arisen.
