My senior year of high school I met my "highschool sweetheart" He was my first love, my first 'i love you' my first real relationship that lasted more than a few months. He was into drugs and things before me & he changed when I was with him & became the person I knew he could be. I broke up with him when I started college, but we were on & off for awhile.
I am now in a 2 yr relationship with an absolutely wonderful man. It has been 5 years since my ex and I broke up. He has gotten back to his old ways and I know he is not someone I would want in my life.
I had a dream about him last night that I was back with him and he was just perfect. Why did I dream of him? Do your thoughts of your first love ever go away? I know my bf does not have these feelings about any of his ex's and I feel badly that I still think of him...not thinking of being with him, but wondering what he is doing and if he is ok, etc.

It is very common for people to dream about ex-partners. Individuals that have been an important part of our lives continue to take up a part of our mind and heart. It is impossible to very dramatically shut the person out of thoughts and feelings. Just because the relationship ends does not mean that all is finished. You will continue to dream about your ex boyfriend until you "let go" of him on a very important level, or until you learned your lessons from that relationship. Either way, dreaming about your ex-romance does not predict future involvement. It may be wish-fulfillment, reliving memories, or working out old issues.

Dreams are the subconscious' way of reminding the conscious mind of thing either in the past of that it took note of during the day. In our dreams, our mind tends to take the memory and push it to one extreme (the perfect ex when we really know better) or the other (a monster we can't escape). The first love always leaves a serious impression on our minds and helps to shape us as a person. The same applies for any first experience. It is perfectly natural to think of that person (and idealize them in dreams). These thoughts can be amplified by changes in your present life. A new job, graduation or even just moving to a new level in your present relationship can cause the mind to wander into the past. For a mind worried about the present and future (and it always is, though for some it is more outward than others) memories are a safe haven where nothing unexpected can happen.

Due to the fact that he was your first love you will always care and worry about him. This does not mean that you want to get back with him. It just means that he will always have a special place in your heart no matter what. I think that at times subconsciously we all wonder the what ifs. It's normal. If you are able to talk to your boyfriend about this I am sure that he will understand. Just remember that honesty is the best policy.

Well considering u r a grl, grls do have a soft heart as compared o the guyz and they do thing about their ex. whatever appeared in the dream doesn't show what u want, it's just becoz u think abt him, he appeared in ur dream. Forgetting first love is not easy but the guy appears really bad in his habits and u should try to forget him! Good Luck.

It's natural to wonder how old loves are doing, especially your first real one. You thought of him and he popped up in your dream. Don't over think it. In and of itself it means nothing. It doesn't mean you want to be with him, it's just your unconscious mind playing a past memory in the present. Don't feel guilty, it means nothing.

it is quite common to dream of an old love. perhaps u were thinking of him, u know that he is back doing the wrong things, but in your dreams he is perfect. dreams consist of our hopes, or wishes, the past, but they really mean very little, just means u were thinking about him, wishing he were doing right instead of the same old things.

you know i had a dram about my ex that i was with on and off for 10 years and, i'm married now, anyway so i looked it up cause since i got married i totally like threw my ex to the digs, well the book said that if you dream about an ex, that is your yearning to be with him again, so i don' t know.
