If we had to be in another part of the country or another country for a month... can you take your child with you and have them miss school? Obviously taking any school work with us and somewhat homeschooling them for that month or do we get a nanny and have them stay with him for a month? That seems like a long time away from our child and not necessarily cool with us... we also believe that traveling can be quite educational as well... but what is the rule?

take your child with you.. your child will miss you greatly if you leave them behind with a nanny or babysitter. when i went on vacation with my son and family i had to go to school fill out a form saying what days he will be not at school and have his teachers fill out the rest and have the principal sign it. on the paper the teachers fill out what homework he will have to do while out of school. granted my son is only in kindergarden, so there wasn't much to do. if its a public school they have to let you do this unless your child has missed many days of school already. hope this helps

Is this month necessary right now? Can it not wait until summer break? Is what ever you are leaving for, worth your child missing a month of school? What grade is your child in and are you educated enough to homeschool? You might think so, but I tell ya, my kid is in grade 4 and he's bringing home stuff that I have no clue how to do anymore.

Ask yourself all those questions, and if the answers are yes, I must go, and yes, this trip is worth a month of my childs education, then yes, take him.

Would you want to be left behind for a month? You better have a good reason though, or the school will seriously frown upon your parenting. there are government agencies that regulate these types of things, so ensure its a damn good reason to pull your child.

Check with your child's school. She can miss a certain amount of days with no questions asked. If your traveling plans are longer than that, then there is a possibility you can work something out with the school. For instance, they can send a stack of homework with her or make a plan that she has to write something each and every day and send it into the school.

I think in most schools here in {Pa.} you can take the child,as long as it's deemed educational and of course you take what ever homework that is required for that month.I had to fill in a form from the school that stated that it was an educational trip and then she had to, for homework, take pictures and write an essay about her trip. She was a 7th grader then.Hope this helps and have a safe trip!

That would depend on the school district. Being out for so long might violate the absentee policy and might force the school to hold your child back.

I'd ask the school.
A month seems like quite a bit of time for your child to be out of school though.

you would have to check with your child's school but I know my daughters school really frowns on vacations/traveling during the school year

I think that you should call the school and ask them. I'm sure it varies from school district to school district.
