i had a few questions about hypnosis. my friends and i went to a show and watched one of our friends volunteer. after awhile i turned to my friends and saw one had her eyes closed and the other was blinking her eyes alot.
then after awhile my eyes started getting heavy and i felt really relaxed watching the show. were my friends almost hypnotized? what about me?

You can only if you let yourself get hypnotised, if not
then you cannot.................................................................

It depends how strongminded you are, but most hypnotists
will not agree with me, they have however never been able
to hypnotise me..........................................................................

By definition, yes you did get hypnotized:

hyp·no·tize - to dazzle or overcome by or as if by suggestion

The common conception on hypnotism is people believe they have to be in a trance where they are coaxed into talking like a dog or dig up childhood memories then with a snap, they wake up.

Being hypnotized can be as superficial as just simply being relaxed by the suggestive words or actions of the "hypnotist". There are also many books about hypnotizing yourself! I reasearched them so that I could help myself fall asleep better at night.

My entire life i have had problems with falling asleep and since learning a little about hypnotism, I have a little better (not perfect) control over my sleep patterns. For me its as low level as just counting down from 10 to clear my mind and putting myself into a relaxed state where I can fall asleep easier.

So if you listened to the person and your mind started to feel at ease, you were feeling the effects of suggestion and were in a sense, becomming hypnotized. Its nothing to be afraid of! There has been research that being in a hypnotic state for 15 minutes is the equivalent of several hours of sleep to your mind.

There is a possibility that you were. There is also a possibility that you were bored, tired, had a few to many etc.
It is not unusual for the people watching the show to enter the trance state. In any event you were under the lightest level and no harm done.
