The most common cause for prostate enlargement is benign prostate hyperplasia. BPH is expecially troublesome because it is most likely to occur in the area surrounding the urethra, causing difficulty urinating. It happens in around 90% of elderly males. Fortunately, there are many great treatments available today. If this problem is affecting you, ask your physician for help. He can help you, often without surgery.

Enlargement of the prostate is seen in men in their 50's. If it is left untreated it can obstruct the bladder completely. Cancer of the prostate can also occur in later years. You need to have a psa blood test to find the reason for the enlargement. Cancer of the prostate is very treatable in many ways ( the choice is up to the patient.) with complete remission.Don't wait as the sooner you find out why the better to start early treatment. Good luck
