Which one would you choose?

Oh my.
I am "extremely overweight". I have a condition called Hashimoto's thyroiditis. I gained 100 lbs in 7 years no matter what I did to try to make it stop. I even helped my new husband build our house with our own hands during that time, so it's not like I sit around eating bon-bons. My thyroid is under control but my metabolism will never be the same. Eating 1000 cal a day I lose 2 lbs a month. Any idea how depressing that can be? And now you want to know if people would despise being fat so much they'd lose a limb to avoid it?
Which would I choose? My leg, and never walk with my grandsons again? My arms, and never pick them up in a bear hug? I want to lose this weight for so many reasons. But it doesn't change who I am inside. The person in the mirror is not who I am. The person in my soul is. I am loved, and desired.
As much as I want to lose the weight, I want more for society to finally understand that it is not the shell that makes the person, but the spirit.

I would have to say overweight. Because then at least I could go and start working out, eating healthier, and I could lose weight. If I lost a limb the best I could hope for is a big chunk of plastic or metal.

Losing a limb. At least once it's gone it's gone. Being extremely overweight has many long term problems just waiting to happen.

Interesting question. I would choose to lose a limb. Not so much as a for a "look" reason, but for my health.

extremely overweight because you can do something about that, you can lose weight but you can't gain back a limb.

I'd pick being fat. At least I can try and lose the weight. Can't grow an arm back though.
