They were no different than the ones who created the bombs that destroyed Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

The side the atom bomb makers worked for just won the war and got to write the history books, so they ended up being hero's.

If Germany had won the war and wrote the history then German scientists would have been the heroes and the creators of the atom bomb would have been the monsters.

Like it or not, that's the way that it works.

it somewhat is why technology must be peer reviewed and shown earlier something is done with the outcomes. i'm no longer announcing the fraud isn't a foul element, that's a poor element. yet i'm no longer confident that it somewhat is having a marked result on the physique of technology as an entire. penal complex time ought to be desperate on a case via case foundation, however the shortcoming of certification interior the sector looks like a plenty extra desirable punishment to me. it somewhat is thrilling which you're able to ask this question interior the alternative drugs section while alt med relies upon completely on slanted and fraudulent technology. The worst frauds; homeopathy, chiropractic, acupuncture, organic supplements, are no longer something yet a tangled internet of lies and incorrect information. If we began throwing people who lied approximately scientific technology into penal complex there would not be any chiropractors, acupuncturists, or homeopaths left after 3 days. EDIT - earlier we overreact to this, be certain you recognize what the survey suggested. It would not say a million in 7 scientists solid outcomes, it say that a million in 7 know a individual who did. the easily sort of scientists forging outcomes ought to be extremely low and this result ought to nevertheless take place. If there are 50 scientists working jointly on a undertaking and one fakes some information and the different 40 9 capture him, now you have 40 9 scientists who know somebody who solid ends up in some trend. whether there have been super numbers of persons who knew somebody who solid outcomes that does no longer advise that there are a huge sort of persons who solid outcomes.

Definitely not.

You are correct when you say science never tells us good things and bad things, about how the 'truth' (I call it knowledge) is used. It is not the domain of science. It is the domain of ethics, moral, religion, etc.

But a scientist are not exempted from moral questions, because he is a human being, just like us, and a human being is supposed to be accountable for everything he has done or he has said. Above knowledge, there is one thing called WISDOM, i.e. how we use the knowledge. If a scientist says,"I am not responsible for what I do, because science is not interested on the usage of the truth", he should ask to himself,"Am I a human being, or science, or animal?"

There is a difference between doing general research on fission, fusion, psychology, and the like and actually making a bomb or experimenting on prisoners in some harmful way.

Fission/fusion is neutral (theoretical science), making a bomb instead of making a power plant is not neutral (applied science).

Same goes with understanding medical or psychological effects on humans vs. using that knowledge to extract information from them or experimenting on them against their will.

If Nazis have done unethical experiments though, I personally don't think the research should just be thrown away.
