its pretty tough and competitive for D1. D3 is still really competitive but not as tough....more like high school

It is certainly competitive. It is relatively easy to get in if you have both skills and grades. Tryouts depend upon the particular school you choose. There are so many schools in the USA that some will be very easy and others very difficult. The opportunities are out there. Good luck.
