First of all Ccleaner is not crap, it's an excellent cleaner of unnecessary and broken files, cookies etc. It is NOT an anti-virus product nor is it an anti-malware/spyware product.

Download (for free) both AVG anti-virus and Adaware SE Personal, and Spybot S&D too. Update & run all of these and I expect you'll find a lot of your problems resolved.

You do have a firewall, don't you? The Windows firewall doesn't stop any malware on your PC from dialling out - try Zone Alarm (free again)

Cable nut, by the way, is a tool for optimising your internet connection. Try their website at :
http://www.cablenut.com/

Hope this helps.

First use add remove programmes to uninstall McAfee and ccleaner. I have used AVG Anti Virus, Zone Alarm Firewall, Spy-bot Search and Destroy and Ad Aware both spyware killers for years. They are all free for personal use and I have had no trouble with Viruses Trojans etc. AVG does not slow the system down as much as some other products and Zone Alarm allows a lot of personal configuration unlike the Windows Firewall. They can all be downloaded from the following link. http://www.computeractive.co.uk/ On the home page select downloads and then the appropriate category. It is safe to use two anti-spy products but never use more than one A/V as it can cause conflicts. Hope this helps.

You are talking about several different types of software. McAfee is a security software program while CCleaner is a privacy tool - very different. CCleaner function is not to delete infected files but rather to clean up temporary files stored on your comptuer. It is meant to remove files which track your activity on the Internet and on your computer. If your computer is infected with viruses or other malicious files, you will need security software, such as: an antivirus, anti spyware and firewall. CableNut is not a security software; instead, it is a tool to optimize your Internet connection speed. For a guide on how to secure your computer, read the following article:

Crap Cleaner is a good programme but not designed to remove a virus, it cleans junk files off your system - Download AVG for a virus - It's free and quite good - If it's spyware you are struggling with then get adaware from Lavasoft.com - also free. Then you will need a registry cleaner like PC mechanic - some are free, others work on a trial basis - Try www.download.com for just about all of these!

Depending on how crapped up your machine is, you may want to back up your important stuff (always a good idea anyway), wipe out the hard drive, and reload it.

Otherwise, the first thing I would do is press CTRL+ALT+DEL, go to the 'processes' tab, and make a list of everything. Go search online for each item, and see if and how you can remove it.

Then go to lavasoft.com and get free 'adaware personal', install it, make sure it is updated, and run a full scan. It won't help if you have a virus, but it gets rid of adware, malware, and other garbage.

Clean up any extra junk you have laying around on your hard drive, and then run scandisk, and defrag.

Finally, if you didn't run across any virus related stuff in your processes, and are still having issues, then make a backup of your registry, and go find a registry cleaner program (don't buy one, there are probably dozens of free ones out there).

If none of this works, see my original answer of wipe it out and start over. Make sure if you back up all your old stuff, that you take it to someone else that has updated virus software and check all of the files for viruses before you load them back on the freshly reinstalled machine.

If you continue to have problems despite doing all of that, then you probably have hardware issues - make sure your fans are running, and your case isn't full of dust.

ccleaner is not for infected files, it only clean useless files. You may need something more ie antivirus or spyware software. Good luck. or maybe a registery repairer. regedit command and delete old unused software. Be careful here!

Download Superantispyware, run it in safe mode.Takes about 40mins to do a complete scan.Should get rid of your infected files.Cc leaner which i use is only a system cleaner and not a virus,add-ware-Trojan etc remover.

ccleaner throws up a lot of 'false positives' - for example it claims that 'cookies' are 'infected' ...

It is just scare tactics to get you to pay for it - don't trust it .. just
get rid of it -
