this is such a good question, I had to go and try and find out the info.... I could not remember it myself..... I thought it must be 1990's since I remember tea parties with my eldest and that was what the little princess always served with her tea....lol... but can not could not remember them as even a teen so the 1980's were out.... okay... went to General Mills site the one who puts them out under their Betty Crocker logo... and here is a copy/past andlink to the page/site:

Betty Crocker Supermoist which later became the #1 cake mix in Canada made its debut in 1978. We launched Fruit Roll Ups to the Canadian market place in 1984, while the mid-1990's saw the introduction of Dunkaroos and Frosted Cheerios.

looked in wikipedia.... here is the link.. they have the year..1993! link is below

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dunk-a-roos

copy/paste of the info too:

Dunk-a-Roos was a short-lived product by Betty Crocker. It was first launched in 1993. It consisted of a snack-sized box that contained kangaroo-shaped cookies and either chocolate or vanilla frosting used as a dipping sauce.

As the product grew in popularity, the company made some changes. In 1995, a new flavor, "Cookies 'n Cream," was introduced, which allowed the consumer to make his or her own cookie wafer sandwiches. The Shrek Edition Dunk-a-roos featuring green frosting were released soon after the movie(Shrek) itself.

The product's mascot was originally a kangaroo who wore a green hat, a green vest, a striped tie, and spoke with an Australian accent. In the fall of 1996, the company decided to change the mascot and initiated a contest known as "Dunk-a-Roos Kangaroo Kanga-Who Search," allowing children to submit drawings of possible designs. The winner, introduced in January 1997, was "Duncan the Dunking Daredevil"; in his commercials, he'd attempt a daring stunt to dunk his Dunk-a-Roos but would always fail.

I loved those little things.... or maybe it was the tea parties with my daughter....lol.... and those never filled me..... hmmmm... thank you so much for asking this.. brought such "sweet" memories.. gonna go find them at the store and have a tea party, with my princess again... lol.. think it will go over well? she is 15yr....lol... ;)
have a good one
hope this helped
