The more you answer in a particular category, and the more Best Answers you get (not the percentage) the more likely you are to get a "top contributor" badge next to your name, up to 3 categories. Levels, and points have nothing to do with it. I have it for answering in Yahoo 360 and Yahoo Answers categories, neither of which am I on the leaderboard, but I have been answering alot of questions in these categories recently. I do lead the category DIY and I do not have "top contributor" for that category, but I haven't answered much in that one for a while.

OMG properly ok i did have have a very good contributor label in track. Buttttt i assume i havent been answer plenty in track recently cuz i dont have the label not greater! Gosh the only time i in my opinion do no longer ideas being categorised something and that they pass an take it from me! lol... So i assume my suggestion in case you get a label attempt to maintain up with it cuz it could disapear... im gonna pass and attempt and get mine back now. lol. yet i dont truly be attentive to how precisely i've got been given it... i merely knew i replaced into answering ALOT in track and getting a great style of desirable solutions in track so as that should've been why i had one....

I'm really not sure, but I've answered over 4000 questions, the majority of which are in the P&G section, and yet I'm not considered a top contributor. It really makes no sense.
Maybe you have to ask lots of questions as well...which I haven't. I think I've only asked maybe 60 questions.

Most top contributors I have seen deserve it....But, I have seen one major troll that spams the board constantly and has this tag....I think that entity gives the "top contributor" tag a bad name.

Your guess is as good as mine! It doesn't mean anything to me, as there are many people wearing the label who "contribute" nothing. I'd much prefer a means for all of us to rate questions so we could self-regulate YA without having to whine to Yahoo about TOS violations. The current system makes me depend on the establishment, and that's SO unAmerican. ;-)

It's a totally flawed concept.
If you are an all-rounder like me you get 11% best answers but you never spend enough time in one category to become a top answerer in it.

I don't know. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to it.

You have to have more than 2000 posts, 10%+ "Best", and you have to beat off the entire Y!A staff in a kiddie pool filled with jello and soiled childhoods.

And you have to sell your soul for Israel.
