He almost certainly wouldn't have to compete for the starting job.

What would the Lions have to give up to Tampa in order to obtain Plummer's rights?

i don't believe he would, his priorities are to play for a contender, With ten years in the league he can't afford to go help a team rebuild and the lions have been rebuilding for decades. For him it isn't just starting, it's winning. The Bucs aren't winning so he isn't there, why would he go to the Lion's?
He has business plans outside the NFL and to get him to put those aside will take a little more than money (it's never been about the money for him) The team has to contend, period.

I'm a native Detroiter, we're bad enough as is, we don't need Jake "the snake" Plummer QBing our team. Now, in the world of Millen logic, if we were going to take a run at Plummer we would probably have to give up a 4th and maybe McCown or Orlovsky to make John "Chucky" Gruden happy.

Like I said though, Plummer is not really a starting level QB anymore, and he's always been a borderline NFL talent. About the only way I'd take him is if the choice was between him, and bringing back Joey "Piano Man" Harrington.

I doubt Plummer would want to QB Detroit.

Even though the Lions have better receivers than the Bucs, the prospect of winning less than 6 games, combined with the team being run by incompetent owner Millen, can't possibly be any more appealing to him than speaking to the media was for Marvin Harrison.

Plummer is not retired. He is playing hardball because he wants to play for the Texans. I think the Lions need to draft a QB. Let Kitna finish this year and start with the new QB next year.

Who really cares? Does anybody honestly think that the Lions have a chance? They would need a far better starter than plummer to get it done. I say he would do it.....for the right amount of dough...but he knows they would not even make the playoffs. By the way....did the Lions end up with more than 2 wins last season? lol.

I don't think that Plummer could compete for the job. Even garbage azz Kitna is better than Jake the Snake Eater.

Why would you want this? Kitna is as good as Plummer. If the Lions draft Calvin Johnson they could resign Andre Ware and win with him back there. Let Jake the Snake go home...

From my understanding he isn't retired. He never filed the papers as of yesterday. Heck I think the Lions could give whatever round draft pick, or maybe even the next round if they give a little more, that the Tampa Bay gave to the Broncos.

I don't think Kitna is as good as Plummer...The Broncos have been in the playoffs at least...Kitna did have a good year or two before Carson Palmer arrived in Cincinnati...The Lions...well...they have sucked since since Wayne Fontes was fired, frankly...I was hoping Mariucci would turn it around...but if they had given him a little more time, I think he would have...Matt Millen needs to go...and whoever is deciding to keep him around (I guess that would be W. C. Ford, himself), should go too...They need someone who actually cares about the team on the field to run it...
