Remember the big stink made over just reading their names on TV!

I don't think that either should be broadcast over the TV.

First of all who gives a crap about Anna Nicole Smith? She was a nude model who for 5 minutes had a TV show. Why does that take up news time?

As far as the GI's go. I don't have a problem with their names being read on the TV and if the family doesn't mind a news crew then who am I to say they can't broadcast it. It's not what I would want but that doesn't mean no one does. And if broadcasting of a GI's funeral is going to be used for NBC's next attack on the government then I think it's wrong.

Well, Big Brother is watching very carefully. We can't broadcast the funerals of dead GIs while there is a war going on! It would be detrimental to the nations moral. It would take away from the war effort. It would look bad for GW Bush. No, distract the public with the rotting corpse of Anna Nicole while we ship more of our nations best and brightest over to Baghdad.

Sarcasm off.

No, I don't think showing ANY kind of funeral should be "okay." I don't think that sort of thing should be public. It should be entirely up to the grieving families, and I know that if MY husband was killed in Iraq, I would not want everyone in the US to be able to watch his funeral.
The only time a funeral should be public is if it's someone who was greatly loved by many people, like a movie star, or a former president. And even then, I won't watch them. I think that grieving should be private.

What has Anna Nicole Smith ever done besides give guys material to toss off to?

I think it's an indication that our country's priorities are seriously skewed.

Funerals are a pagan rite. Anna lived a pagan life unlike out GI's.

What is a real disgrace is that Bush doesn't think he should have to face the families of fallen soldiers or at least give them the common decency of showing up for their funerals.

Oh, he will show up at staged mock funerals, with FOX News there to film the entire thing, and Dead Eye Dickey Poo Cheney and Condaleexxyyzza Rice by his side.

Sadly, no one would watch. The amount of drama and coverage that woman received on American airwaves was mind boggling to me. She wasn't a celebrity of note, she was a sadly misguided individual who attracted attention with her bigger than life appearance. Since when is that news? But it filled the void for the American need for sensationalism...and the networks are all about ratings....

I think all the publicity Anna Nicole is getting is rediculous! She was a ditzy moron and she gets all this attention when she dies but the people that deserve the attention get none! GRRRR! Its just crazy!

It's a shame. I have no logical explanation for it. It appears society places a higher value on celebrities. It's strange
Actually what it comes down to is sensationalism sells
